sebi: ANMI gives go ahead on extending trading hours for index futures: Report

In a major development, the board of the Association of National Exchanges Members of India (ANMI) gave its in-principle approval to extend trading hours for index futures, ET NOW reported on Wednesday.

The nod comes in the wake of NSE’s proposal to extend trading hours for index futures & options (F&O) from 6 pm to 9 pm.

Reacting to the news, analyst Sanjiv Bhasin said that the system is not geared up for such a change and there “is no work-life balance…you cannot do this for inordinate hours…,” he added.

He said that the exchanges will see the same volume but the session will be extended. He expressed doubts over the completion of settlements while lamenting the “unfortunate price movement” as the participation will initially be low in his view.

He urged for a work-life balance while saying that he was totally against the move.
